Waxing Aftercare Advice
Please read the advice below and follow our recommendations. Your therapist will have taken great care to protect your skin during your appointment, but it is important that you continue to look after the waxed area for the next few days to prevent any unwanted side effects.
Please note: slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 to 48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Face and body waxing
Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours. This means:
No hot baths or showers (washing with cool or lukewarm water is fine).
No saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms.
No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).
No sport, gym work or other exercise.
Avoid touching the waxed skin with unwashed hands.
Wear clean, loose fitting clothing.
Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.
To soothe and protect the skin, we recommend applying our fabulous Outback Organics Post-Wax spray to the treated area for a few days after your treatment, which will help to soothe and protect the skin. For sensitive areas such as the face, underarms and pubic area we recommend the use of the Outback Organics Bush Balm.
Using an Outback Organics Skin Wash over the next few days, will also assist the healing process should any pimples appear.
Preventing ingrown hairs
Ingrown hairs occur when a new hair can't break through the surface of the skin and curls back into the pore instead, often resulting in a spot.
Starting a few days after your appointment, gently scrub the skin 3 times a week using an exfoliating mitt. Also moisturise the area every day using Outback Organics Body Lotion which will keep the skin supple and help new hairs to break through.
To treat existing ingrown hairs we recommend using Outback Organics Ingrown Hair Serum to enable the ingrown hairs to be freed, using this dual action formula which enables the area/s to be exfoliated where the hair is trapped.
Your next appointment
Most women start to notice a small amount of re-growth after a week or so, but it may take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results. Hair needs to be at least ½ cm long before it can be successfully removed by waxing; please do not shave the area between your appointments as this interferes with the natural growth cycles, and you'll be left with stubble. To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend regular waxing every 4 to 6 weeks.
